Funky Classix Vol.12

We kick this synthesised special with the Derek Kaye rework of Turn The Music Up by The Players Association. The original was released in 1979 on Vanguard and was a top ten hit for The Players Association in the UK Singles Chart in the spring of 79. Since then Turn The Music Up has been cover by Chris Paul, Shakatak and The Brand New Heavies.

Next up is I Want Your Lovin' (Just a Little Bit) by Curtis Hairston with Disco legend John Morales on the remix. The original 12” was released in the UK on London Records in 1985, and would be a top 20 hit for Hairston in the spring of that year. This tune sounded awesome at a Glitterbox party at the Ministry of Sound.

The third track in the mix is from Disco diva Thelma Houston and her club classic You Used To Hold Me So Tight with Dr Packer on the rework. Originally released in 1985 on MCA and would be covered by Reel People featuring the vocals of Angela Johnson in 2006.

Aeroplane featuring Tawatha Agee - Love On Hold is next up, with Dimitri From Paris on remix duties. An instant classical as it was only released last summer in 2017, Love On Hold also features on the Gliiterbox compilation Love Is The Message.

Next up is a song that just reminds me of my childhood, You're The One For Me by D Train with yet another rework from Dr Packer. Originally released on the mighty Preludee Records in 1981. It would be a top 30 hit for D Train in 1982 and would be re-released in 1985 where it would fair better and peaked at #15 in the UK Singles Chart.

Our final synthesised track is Be Mine Tonight by The Jammers, with another Dimitri From Paris DJ friendly re-edit which featured on the compilation Salsoul Mastermix. The original was released in 1981 on Salsoul Records and was a big club hit in the UK but only peaked at #65 in the UK Singles Chart.
